Job Description

Role Specification:

  • Provide a high level of actuarial, analytical and technical support to one or more of the Actuarial teams. Actuarial / analytical support includes: data preparation and analysis; modelling and support; analysis of profit and capital requirements; analysis of industry or competitor information, and reporting
  • Provide actuarial support in the specification, development and review of actuarial, financial and product systems
  • Provide actuarial / analytical support in respect of ad hoc requests for different functional areas of the Insurance function
  • Provision of a high level of actuarial, analytical and technical support, as directed, primarily in respect of (by not limited): o Statutory and internal capital determination and reporting, scenario testing, forecasting o Financial reporting and business planning o Experience investigations and ad hoc investigation when required o Reinsurance support
  • Preparation of data, investigation and review of data integrity
  • Formulation of statistical and actuarial advice based on results of analysis and knowledge of environment
  • Provision of business insight to other business units
  • Ownership of key initiatives in respect of implementation and communication of outcomes to Actuarial teams and to the business more broadly
  • Identify opportunities for simplification, continuous improvement and improved productivity, and take ownership for the implementation of these opportunities
  • Appropriately consider Suncorp’s strategy and risk policies and frameworks and industry/regulatory requirements in all activities and decisions
  • Assist with developing the capability of others through effective coaching and mentoring
  • Support managers in fostering a positive team culture
Person Specification
  • Good progress with actuarial exams – IAAust (or equivalent) - Part II or above
  • Strong analytical aptitude gained from formal education Experience (minimum type and level of experience required to perform the role)
  • At least 3 years of working experience in actuarial work
