We’re partnering with a highly respected specialist underwriting business that operates in a space many markets won’t touch. Their focus sits across complex property placements, niche facilities, and tailored solutions for brokers requiring a more strategic approach.

This is not a “business as usual” underwriting environment.

The team works across hard-to-place risks, collaborates closely with a national broker network, and takes a solutions-first approach to SME and Mid-Market business. The portfolio is established, profitable, and continuing to evolve through new products, facilities, and future-state initiatives.

You’ll join a close-knit team with strong technical capability, commercial freedom, and a genuine “all in” culture where everyone contributes to the broader success of the book.

What the role involves:

• Managing and growing a diverse Property portfolio
• Negotiating declinatures and finding creative solutions
• Working closely with brokers and market partners
• Contributing to facility development and portfolio strategy
• Identifying new opportunities across niche sectors and products
• Leveraging data, reporting, and Excel to improve decision-making and efficiencies
• Playing a role in process improvement and automation initiatives

We’re interested in people who:

• Have underwriting, broking and/or claims experience within commercial lines
• Understand policy wordings and the policy lifecycle
• Enjoy the commercial side of insurance and relationship management
• Are analytically minded and comfortable working with data
• Can think beyond the obvious and solve problems creatively
• Thrive in collaborative, team-focused environments

Strong Excel capability will be highly regarded, particularly individuals who enjoy reverse engineering problems, improving reporting, and finding smarter ways of working.

The business is also open-minded on profile. You may already be an experienced Underwriter, or you could be someone earlier in your career with the right technical foundation, attitude, and ambition.
